Karin Kärvling Søholt has been appointed as Zacco’s new Director of Strategic Alliances

We are pleased to announce that Karin Kärvling Søholt will be joining Zacco on 1^st September, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her prestigious career within global Intellectual Property. Having worked with, and led, some of the most well-known organisations within the IP space, her reputation for business development and strategic alliance looks set to be a perfect match for Zacco’s ongoing expansion plans.

A lawyer by trade, she was educated internationally and worked in various legal positions before joining a Swedish law firm, which was where she discovered an interest in intellectual property. She quickly became an IP attorney, working with a consultancy for many years, but a passion for client contact and relationship building soon transformed her role into one of business development and strategic alliances.

For Karin, IP was one of the few fields in law where international convention was largely aligned. Cultural intelligence became an important part of her role and while she understood cultural differences, she also knew that there was more to what bought us all together than what set us apart. Filing a patent or trademark in one country was remarkably similar to another, and IP opened up the possibility of working with colleagues and clients from all over the world. “Innovation is such a positive environment, its core is focused on helping organisations to grow and that is wonderful to be a part of. Helping companies to grow and seeing them thrive was always very rewarding.”

Although we finally have the opportunity to welcome Karin to Zacco, she has actually been working alongside us for over 15 years now. Seeing how the management of IP rights had changed over her years in the industry, she set out with some colleagues to found a software company that could provide an early form of case management system, accessible by all stakeholders and provided as a full SaaS solution. The platform was revolutionary, and Zacco was an early adopter, sharing Karin’s view that the future was digital.

The company was sold and Karin continued alongside the new owners, quickly becoming VP of Sales for Northern Europe and eventually Director of Strategic Alliances for the whole EMEA region. After a few years, she joined another software provider before that too was sold and she joined one of the world’s leading IP software firms as Global Head of Sales and Marketing.

Throughout this prestigious career, Karin has worked closely within Zacco’s markets and areas of operation and she has got to know us very well, collaborating closely and building a fantastic working relationship. She has followed our journey to become one of Europe’s leading IP firms with great interest and has always been impressed by our willingness and ability to encourage and embrace change in what had traditionally been a conservative market. “Zacco is one of the few companies I know off with a vision for the future of IP, planning what the needs of companies will be.
